Chief Owoeye Samuel Olukayode is a native son of Itapa Ekiti, Ekiti State Nigeria, born in the 60s.
He is an astute administrator, trained educationist, historian, researcher, and philanthropist. He had his primary education at Methodist Primary school, Itapa Ekiti in 1970, and Modern three certificate in 1973 and later proceeded to Anglican Grammer School, Ojebode Ibadan, Oyo State where he obtained his Senior Secondary Certificate in Education in …..
Despite his background, he never gave up in his quest for knowledge, which took him to College of Education, Ikere Ekiti and Wesley College, Ibadan where he obtained his (Grade II) and National Certificate in Education respectively in 1978 and 1986. He later proceeded to University Of Ile Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife where he bagged Bachelor of Arts in History Education in 1989
As a passionate educationist, he has worked in different government schools in the old Ondo State (now Ekiti and Ondo States). He has worked as a teacher in Adebawore Memorial Grammar School, Ile Oluji, Ondo state. In Ekiti State, he has worked in administrative capacities in different schools which includes but not limited to Araromi High School, Araromi Ekiti, Egbeobe High School, Ikole Ekiti, Fiyinfolu High School, Oke Ayedun Ekiti, Community High School, Oke Ako-Ekiti. Presently, he serves as the principal at Comprehensive High School, Ijesha Isu, Ekiti. His career as educationist and administrator has availed him trainings on Curriculum Development, Human Resources Management, Education Reporting and Budgeting, Project Management, Leadership, and Management amongst others. Also, he has facilitated training and workshops at different levels.
Beyond his career path, as a historian, he has been a researcher for over two decades. He has worked as research assistants to Professor Ade Ajayi (Late), Department of History, former Vice Chancellor University of Lagos, Nigeria, and Professor Akin Orubuloye, Department of Sociology, Ekiti State University Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria who later became the Vice Chancellors of Ekiti State Universities. And later with Dr. William Rea, Department of History, University of Leeds, UK, and presently with Emeritus Professor Elisha P. Renne, Department of Anthropology and Afro American Studies, University of Michigan, USA.
He has participated in the following research works which include but not limited to: Burial, Rebirth, and Relationship with the dead in Yoruba land, Historical and Anthropology Aspect of Itapa Ekiti, Virginity and Marriage in Rural Ekiti, Masquerade (Ara Orun) and Roles of Youth in Ekiti, Religion and Textile in southwest Nigeria, History of Egbeoba Land: Seven Towns and Villages, Personal Hygiene, Public Sanitation and Western Education in Selected Ekiti Towns and Perspectives on the Polio Vaccination Campaign in South-Western Nigeria. He has to books to his credit, which are: History of Itapa Ekiti, Life and Times of Prince Adeyanju and Truancy: Causes and Panacea
He is the founder and director of Prospect Achiever Schools, Ikole Ekiti (w.w.w.prospectachiever.com). He is a recipient of titles amongst which are: The Ajiware of Methodist Church, Itapa Ekiti, Nigeria, Grand Patron of Methodist Church Nigeria, and awarded the best, diligent and dependable Principal by A.U.D Junior High School, Ikole Ekiti. He has facilitated and supervised several community projects in his village and his host community. He is a strong member of different associations which includes: Nigerian Union of Teachers, Association of Nigeria Conference of Principal of Secondary Schools (2017-2020), Elites Club, Itapa Ekiti, and Itapa Progressive Union. As an expression of concern to the development of his community, he co-mobilized the successful shift of the Pre-Degree campus of Federal University Oye Ekiti to his home town, Itapa Ekiti. He is widely traveled both locally and internationally, most especially within Europe.
He’s married to Ireti Olutoyin and their marriage is blessed with two boys and girls.
